Sometimes it's after the walk that is better than the walk itself, and today was one of those days.  When we Snails met up with the 5k fast walkers, and the really fast 10k walkers, everyone said, "let's go to the Diner place that had the fun rock 'n roll music."  So we all piled in our cars and headed over there, all 9 Merrywalkers plus Dick and Barb.  It was so much better than we could have ever imagined.
We ended up walking right into the KOIN news photographer taking pictures for the benefit being held for John, who was burned in a fire at his home trying to resuce his dog.  This is the story if you haven't read about it.  He tried saving his dog, but his 11-year-old dog, Cleo, passed away the next day.  John did sit down with us at the tagle to tell us his story, and of course, we passed the donation jar around the table.  Of course, the KOIN guy took pictures and said it would air on the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. news tonight, so again, the Merrywalkers might just end up on the newscast.  Then it even gets better..
If you are a Portlandlia fan, the restaurant was featured in the final episode last night.  It is the restaurant where Ed Begley works, and we sat right in the same tables.  It was so much fun.  Sometimes you just never know where those walks will take you and today was one of those days.  And as soon as we got home we had to watch last night's episode, just to see the restaurant.  What a fun day.
