Sunday Parkways Walk 07/18/2010
Today was the second of the Parkways Walk. Being from a big city, I love walking from park to park and just seeing everyone outside roller skating, biking, walking, playing in the parks, it reminds me of the days when I grew up and everyone was outside. We walked in a new park today, the Memory Garden. It is so peaceful there, it is designed for families to come with their relatives that have alzheimer's or even if someone might be in a wheel chair. The flower gardens are at a raised level so anyone can enjoy them. The flowers are maintained by volunteers and it even has a picnic bench and public restrooms and lots of benches. It's small and even if you are suffering from alzheimer's you can't get lost in this circular park. The first park we hit the band was playing "My Kind of Town", so I was hooked right away. Cheryl, Lois and myself met Carolyn and Mike and we did the walk. We opted for the 5, but Cheryl and her friend did the 10k and they even finished ahead of us. We met up with Starr at the start/finish. After we stopped for coffee and just thought, wasn't this wonderful weekend. Three walking events! It's been a long time since we've seen that and then tomorrow night there's a group walk. By the way, for all of you interested in the numbers: Gresham had 184, Sherwood had 124, Sunday Parkways had 148. Comments Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
