<![CDATA[Wednesday walk along the Columbia...]]>Thu, 20 Jun 2013 03:51:36 GMThttp://www.sherwoodmerrywalkers.org/1/post/2013/06/wednesday-walk-along-the-columbia.htmlToday there were over 40 walkers who all gathered at the McDonald's on NE Airport Way. It didn't take long for all of us to sign up, grab our sun visors and umbrella's, can't be to sure of the weather and start out on a beautiful walk. We followed a bike path and started listening to a few of our regular walkers who had been on trips. Annette St. Pierre just got back, she was tanned and looking extremely healthy. It was good to see her smiling face and listen to all of her adventures. The weather was great for walking and with the view of the Columbia the KM's just seemed to fly by. Dick Baker led the 10K walkers across Marine Drive and to the Columbia Slough Trail. This YRE has an option so you have a choice to make, or follow your leader... Thank you Dick!
Joe Totine led the the group of 5K walkers, a special thanks to Joe too! These men are great guides and we appreciate all their time and effort. See you soon. ]]>

<![CDATA[Wednesday's walk ]]>Thu, 13 Jun 2013 03:57:18 GMThttp://www.sherwoodmerrywalkers.org/1/post/2013/06/wednesdays-walk.htmlToday the sun and clouds were both out and we didn't know if we should wear our sun visor's or carry our umbrella's...the smart ones did both! It was a scenic walk on both sides of the Willamette river, across two of Portland's bridges, in beautiful downtown Portland and a stroll around the historic Ladd's neighborhood. This walk had a little bit of everything, including road constuction that Dick Baker guided us around, with help from Carolyn. The 10K group, led by Dick got stopped by a train. As we were waiting, the 5K group, led by Joe Totine, caught up with us. We all enjoyed visiting, while the train blew it's horn, to see who was the loudest...needless to say the train won... hands down! The sun gave way to the clouds towards the end and we did get a few sprinkles but it never damped our moods or spirit's. Most of the group stopped for lunch at "genies" with smiles ready for a tasty lunch and more social time. ... The last five pictures, including the GROUP photo, Dick Baker took..Thank You!]]><![CDATA[June 5th, 2013]]>Thu, 06 Jun 2013 04:05:17 GMThttp://www.sherwoodmerrywalkers.org/1/post/2013/06/june-10th-2013.html

<![CDATA[New Year Round from Vancouver USA Volksporters !]]>Thu, 06 Jun 2013 04:01:19 GMThttp://www.sherwoodmerrywalkers.org/1/post/2013/06/new-year-round-from-vancouver-usa-volksporters.htmlToday we enjoyed a new walk with plenty to see and enjoy. The route took us across a pedestrian bridge and through Whipple Creek Park. The 5K and 10K overlap at the park so it makes it fun to be able to see everyone! Then down a path and on a country road to a historic Grist Mill. This was a lovely YRE that I'm sure many will enjoy doing. Thank you to the Vancouver USA club for a route with new things to see. Also a special thanks to, Dick Baker who led the 10K group and Joe Titone who lead the 5K group...!!! The last five pictures without the date stamp are Dick Baker's photo's, plus the group photo... Thanks Dick! ]]><![CDATA[Red Sunset Park walk, Thank You, East County Wind Walkers ]]>Thu, 16 May 2013 05:31:29 GMThttp://www.sherwoodmerrywalkers.org/1/post/2013/05/red-sunset-park-walk-thank-you-east-county-wind-walkers.html

<![CDATA[Wednesday ~ showers, oh my!]]>Thu, 16 May 2013 05:27:22 GMThttp://www.sherwoodmerrywalkers.org/1/post/2013/05/wednesday-showers-oh-my.htmlToday turned out to be a typical day in May. The sun hide behind the clouds and we had a mostly showers and a few sun breaks for our walk. Dick and Barbara Baker were back from their Florida trip with lots of interesting stories! Nice to have them back! We found out right at the start that it was Bob's birthday so after a happy birthday wish and group photo we were on our way! We enjoyed the fountains, wild life and paths through and around Red Sunset Park. The neighborhoods had lovely manicured lawns and flowers bursting with color. Dick lead the 10K and Joe lead the 5K group, not an easy task ... keeping us all together and not loosing any. We owe a special "Thanks" for these men and all the time they give us!!!

<![CDATA[Camas Lilies in Bloom this year!]]>Thu, 09 May 2013 04:06:17 GMThttp://www.sherwoodmerrywalkers.org/1/post/2013/05/camas-lilies-in-bloom-this-year.htmlThe Wednesday walking group received a special treat this year as the Camas Lilies were in bloom along with pink Corn Salad flower's. The wild flower's were spectacular and added spots of color to brighten the trail. Jan led the 10K group through the Camas Lily fields, across Woodburn and Lacamas Creeks, where bridges kept our feet dry. We got a good view of Pothole Falls and finished our walk along Round Lake. Joe lead the 5k group and by the smiles on their faces they also had a wonderful time. Mike Lama supplies us with the first 5 pictures, on the slide show, of the Lilies & 5K group... Thank You Mike! Always a special thank you to Jan and Joe today for leading us on a beautiful walk through the forest and nature. If you enjoy nature, wildlife and scenery that will take your breath away this walk has it all!
