Last night was our first Merrywalkers picnic. We had four walkers on the walk before the picnic and then every one met back at Jane's house for ham and a potluck. With peaches be fresh, we had 2 peach cobblers and 1 peach pie. The ham was really good and we had everything from beans, jello molds, fresh fruit, potato salad and more stuff than you could eat. And .... thee was the famous Margaret Forster pies, one banana and the other chocolate. For all of you that missed it, maybe next time. Enjoy the pictures. PARRETT MOUNTAIN ARTICLE 09/11/2008

Members are asked to bring a dish to pass or a beverage to share. Lemonade and water will be available. Come at 6:30 for a one-hour walk that includes a hill, but its not too steep. There is also a shorter walk to some blackberry bushes that are ready for harvesting, so bring a container if you want some blackberries. If you don't want to walk, come at 6:30 anyway for some pre-party conversation or to help set up. WALK EVENT COMING UP!. 09/09/2008

Carolyn, Angela and I did a road trip to Whidby Island for their walking festival. On the way there we did a nature walk on Goat Mountain and the Leavenworth town walk. We also stopped at the Applet and Cotlet factory for some goodies to bring home. We then headed for the town of Coupeville on Whidby Island and we did the Ft. Casey Walk, the Jenny Farm Walk and enjoyed a "Prarie Home Compion Moment" while munching on brats, drinking lemonade and listening to a bluegrass band at Jenny Farm. Sunday we did the Penne Cove Walk and the Town Walk and had breakfast at the Knead and Feed, a really neat little restaurant that overlooks the cove and has a wonderful view of Mt. Baker and it was also written up in Sunset Magazine. We're all tired, but we had a great time! |
