Nice walk and very cute riding the ferry, but don't miss the peaches, located on the turn before you go to the ferry.  You may want to buy them first, because we purchased one, thinking we get them on the way back, but they were sold out.  Also a nice farmer's market is on Saturday in Long View.  If you'd like a preview of the walk, check out the pictures under WOW 8/7

We did Hedges Creek this morning and we all enjoyed the wonderful cool weather.  It's always fun to have visitors to our walks.
I should have the recipes up on the FAQ sometime today.  I can't wait to try out Sandi's cold vegetable salad.  Boy, that was good!

Today we were introduced to a new walker, Dave and his many stories.  To give you an idea of what Dave is like, he had a pet pack rat.  Being from Chicago, I never knew there really was a pack rat.  After pointing out the scat and what to look for and looking at Alice and Ralph, I learned all about the pack rat.  When he was a kid and at camp in Molalla, they had pack rats that would invade their tents.  He said they love people and they love to take shiny things, even the shiny gum wrappers, but they always leave something in its place, like a stick. (Doesn't that geocaching?)  In the morning, they would look for their nests just to see what they had accumulated.  One time they found a little toy truck.  They learned to make sure they wore their watches and not let them lay around, in case the next day they would find a stick or a stone in place of the watch!  What a fun person to have along on the snails walk.

We got out there early before the weather became too hot.  I talked my nephew's mother in law who was visiting from Florida to come along for her first volkswalk.  We stopped and saw the beautiful homes and gardens that surround the area and had fun looking at the cars, some that were even in several movies.  After, Mary and I had to head home for lunch with the relatives, but the rest of the group headed out to La Petite La Provence for lunch and then over to the Garden Corner to check out all of their wonderful selections.  It's a really neat little nursery just tucked away on Avery Av.  From what I heard, everyone had a great time.  Joan from Rose City Roamers did the walk with us as well.  We had another great time, but again we didn't get a chance to meet up with Starr, our phantom Merrywalker!  Check out the pictures, there's a special one for Lou Ann in there.
