This morning I'm packing up and heading downtown to the Congress Hotel, right on the Lake, well close by it.  After dropping my stuff off, my cousin and I will head over to Super Dog (where I actually worked as a car hop one summer) for one of their famous dogs.  The problem with Chicago, each hot dog place is unique and you want to try and hit them all while you're here.  Tomorrow night we will start with the pizzas.  Today I'll get our CTA passes (Chicago Transit Authority) and take a couple of rides on the EL and check out the old house and schools.  When I'm done, I'll head out to O'Hare to get the Marys and then the fun begins!

We started out the day with a Snails walk at the Refuge.  We had to check in with our friends Ralph and Alice, the frogs.  The weather was a little misty and cool, but it was a nice walk.  Next week Carolyn will be leading the walk and it will be the same time and place, the Refuge and at 9 a.m.
Tonight we all got together at Snyder Park.  We had so much food and enough hot dogs for another picnic, so we decided next month's meeting will be another picnic  We've had such a good time meeting and getting together with everyone.
This week I take off on Thursday for Chicago.  Mary Ann and Mary are flying out  next week to meet me out there.  We will be doing at least 2, if not 3 volks walks in the Windy City.  Macie, a Chicago Volkswalker, may even meet us there for a walk.  We'll try and blog from Chicago.

What a weekend!  Laura was our map reader today and we had another good turnout.  Joe led the 5k walkers and Laura led the 10k walkers.  Some took off and went by themselves, but we actually had 7 walkers in our "group".  After we went to Starbucks and relaxed before heading home.  This was a great way to spend a wonderful holiday weekend.  Thanks to everyone who came.

We had 16 people show up today at our historical walk through Vancouver.  We started out going through Esther Shore Park and many of the places through the city and ended up on Officer's Row.  It was a great group walk.  Tomorrow, Hedges Creek!  Check out the pictures.

18 walkers showed up in hot weather to do our Summerfield walk in the heat of our summer.  It was great.  We first made a circle and gave our names and where everyone was from.  I was surprised at how many came from Washington to do the walk.  We stopped several times along the way to either take pictures, check out the flowers and just hydrate ourselves.  The pictures are under the picture tab, so have a look.
