Look at us at Otto's and at Crystal Springs.  Otto's is noted for being one of the 10 best hotdogs in the USA.  We bought some and we're having them tonight for dinner!  It was fun watching the ducks at Crystal Springs and seeing all of the beautiful flowers.  As we headed back through those beautiful neighborhoods we found one Open House, so we definitely took the tour.  This was one of the 5k walks offered.  We  had 5 in our group, and the 10k must have had close to 20 in their group.  I think we had more fun!  See all of our pictures under the pictures tab.

The June meeting has been cancelled.

See you at Cruisin'

What do Merrywalkers do on a beautiful Saturday morning?  We get together for a nice walk through Sherwood.  We stopped for a couple of garage sales, walked through the cemetery, headed to town for coffee, stopped by the Farmer's Market and enjoyed the day.  It was wonderful.  No credit, no books, just a nice leisurely walk with friends.  It was great!  Tom and Judy came for their very firs

Pam, Sandra and Arlene did a nice walk at the Refuge today.  It was a bit windy, but the temperatures were ideal for walking.  We saw many geese, red-wing blackbirds and this very big frog!  We met other walkers out there who informed of us a hemlock bush.  They related a story to us about a group of packpackers who were in a forest and they decided to use some of the leaves to add to their soup.  The leaves were so poisonous, one of the backpackers died within 45 minutes.  Check out the information and Cruisin' and you will find a link to the Refuge.  Better than that, come to Crusin' and visit the Refuge that day.  It's a beautiful place and the trails is very easy and not very long.  Make sure you bring your binoculars.

this is a picture of just the 10k walkers, and some of them even got ahead of us!  There was another gorup of 5k walkers with Joe Tuitone and Joe Kelly.  The turnout was amazing and the weather was perfect.  It made for a beautiful Mother's Day.  Thank you all for coming.

What a perfect day for a walk!  The weather was beautiful and we ran into so many people we haven't seen in a long time.  The flowering trees were gorgeous as well as the wisteria.  The charming neighborhood tucked in by the river was a treat.  Thank you Rose City Roamers.  Great Walk!

Relaxing after the walk at the Island Cafe.  We were a bit soggy, but the food was good as well as the coffee and the hot chocolate.  Mary Ann, Sandra, Pam and Jane.

Laura Foster 05/04/2009

The potluck was fantastic, especially Carolyn's beans.  WE WANT THE RECIPE!
Laura came a little after 6 for the potluck and then we headed over to the YMCA for the lecture.  Due to the weather, we decided not to do the walk.  We opened the meeting by giving our Snails a patch for just being a "good Snail".  Actually, they have been great in getting a new walk started and giving us a piece of history we would have never known about.  We also had a dignitary at the meeting tonight, Rozy came with a bunch of Pathfinders to pass out.
Laura is a great speaker and did an excellent job. A lot of us purchased her books and are looking forward to doing one of her walks soon.  The next free day ..... See the rest of the pictures under the PICTURES TAB.
The Wednesday walk is Hayden Island and there is a terrific burger place right on the water (The Island Cafe).  Let me know if you want to go with us.  We should leave my house around 9 a.m. just to make sure we get there on time.  There's a really cute store next to the hamburger place.
By the way, I want to thank all of you who came to both the dinner and the lecture.  It's fun being president when you have great participants.
