Bring either your Walk There!, Portland Hills or Portland City Walks books to the meeting and have Laura sign them.  If you don't have a book, she will have some at the meeting.  A slide show will be presented on the in an area that some of our walkers recently walked.

See you there.

Last Saturday we did the walk at Swan Island and then headed over for some fresh produce at the Portland Farmer's Market.  Again, what a beautiful day.  Come join us sometime.

What a gorgeous day to do a walk at the Refuge.  We immediately saw a bald eagle to start of our wild life adventure.  We all want to go back when the rest of the paths are op

Mary, Carolyn, Lynette and Mary Ann worked at the Tualatin Health Fair.  Tualatin is doing a Fit City Challenge and after seeing them do it, I hope they start one here in Sherwood.  Thanks for volunteering.

As you can see we had a great turnout and had lunch at Hayden's.  See you tomorrow at the YMCA!

Tomorrow we welcome the Wednesday walkers to our HEDGES CREEK WALK.  It is a beautiful walk through the park and some very nice neighborhoods.  We'll meet at Fred's by the produce department at 10 a.m.  Join us for lunch at Hayden's Grill.

Welcome Thursday walkers!  We will be meeting at the Sherwood YMCA for our Sherwood Walk that goes downtown and then back up to Sunset Park.  Skunk cabbage is in full bloom and we did spot some trillium out there the other day.  Lunch hasn't been decided on, but Hunter's Ridge is always a good choice.

Mary Ann, Candice and me in front of the Glockenspiel, while Mike and Carolyn are off to the Farmer's Market getting some tamales.

After I headed over for a short walk at Tryon and where the trillium are out and it is gorgeous.  So if you have a chance, take advantage of seeing them, it's such a short season.

Monday we had 6 walkers on our Snails walk.  One bad thing is i didn't take my camera and it was a new trail!  I couldn't believe it.  Julie walked us up to the cemetery and there's a cute little new trail behind the cemetery that the boy Scouts built, and it was so neat exploring it.  Then we walked down old 99 and saw some cows and goats before heading back to the Y.  We had a new walker and she ended up joining our group on the spot.  Her name is Ann and she thought her husband maybe joining us soon.  She said she had come to a meeting a year or so ago, but felt intimidated by the 10K walks and this seemed to be a lot easier.  I told her it was certainly more relaxed and a lot slower pace.

Next week the Snails decided to walk at the Refuge, so bring your binoculars!

Next week the Thursday Walking group will be walking our Sherwood walk out of the YMCA.  The walk starts at 9 a.m., so be there early enough to sign in and stamp your books.  Maybe we can try Hunter's Ridge for lunch.

This is an answer to a question that came up in our comments section:

Our walks are 1 hour.  We stroll.  We stop, look at gardens, we talk and then we have lunch.  In the future, we will try and do side trips to Crystal Springs Rhodendrum Garden and the Rose Garden, but we may do those on a different day to get the "free" admittance.  As those trips come up, they will be posted.
