WOW, just doesn't seem to cover this record setting day! The Cedar Milers scheduled a relaxing and peaceful walk today in Forest Grove. There was a group walk, lead by Steve Finnegan, that about 35 walkers showed up for and a 5K walk to... I think...with Easter tomorrow a fellow walker and myself drove down and headed out a little early. Please excuse my lack of "people pictures" but I hope you enjoy the beauty of the spectacular scenery we seen. This stroll through the quiet and small town of Forest Grove was in FULL bloom. The sun was out, the sky was blue and the trees and flowers were completing for first prize! The route had us strolling through the Pacific University grounds, old charm neighborhoods with historic old homes and parks. The downtown area had so many colorful decorations and was hopping with color! Who would have imagined that the temperatures today would set records at 77 degrees? A special thank you for this wonderful walk... and a "Happy Easter" to all.

The Valley Volkswalker's club had a special walk this Saturday on Swan Island. A very special THANK YOU for their efforts marking this trail in the hail, snow, rain and wind the day before! The temperatures were a little chilly this morning but the sun came out and clouds broke up and the weather was perfect. The walkers started arriving, some we hadn't seen for a long time... like Angela and many of the regulars. We went a up to Willamette  Blvd., enjoyed the huge tennis shoes, then on to the new "Waud Bluff Trail', down to the River. What a beautiful walk that was marked so well you didn't need the directions! Yeah!

The Cedar Miler's gave us a Teddy Bear Stroll with an St. Patrick's Day theme!
A very special, Thank You to Dar Parrow and all the volunteer's who helped with this event walk! Dar lead a small group of walker's on the 10K route through the new extension of the Fanno Creek Trail. The 10K route went through Tigard and Beaverton neighborhoods, along forested paths and through parks. The shower's held off and the smiles and waves gave us a wonderful opportunity to greet other walkers and enjoy a beautiful day!
This is an annual event that collects new or gently used Teddy Bear's to help support the Washington County Sheriffs Office. A really nice way to help out and a great walk!!!

The group photo's and last six pictures were taken by Dick Baker.
Dick also said; 51 walkers for a day they said would rain,  I just wore a long sleeve shirt. Thank you for the pictures, information and leading the 10K walk.

Today's Wednesday walk, hosted by the Sherwood Merrywalker's, lived up to all our expectations. Rated  1A this beautiful route took us on sidewalks, boardwalks, asphalt and gravel trails. We walked through Hedges Creek Wetlands, Jurgens Park and by the Tualatin River. Judging from the smiles on our faces and all the waves from the walkers, each enjoyed the walk, right to the end around the lake at Tualatin Commons. Some walks hold special places in our hearts and today I heard Dick say, Trillium on the right!  Could it be?   YES, it was... two tiny Trillium's in bloom. The promise of spring and the wonderful joy nature!  It really doesn't get any better!
A special thank you to, Joe Titone, for leading the 5K...too!
Many of the walker's continued to enjoy more friendship and camaraderie with an excellent  lunch at Hayden's Lakefront Grill...Wow~What a day!!!

This was our first Wednesday group walk in March and it was a little on the rainy side. That didn't dampen anyone's spirits or determination to have a wonderful walk. Almost 30 walkers showed up today for a beautiful route along pathways and bridges in the Cedar Mill area. The Cedar Milers sponsor this year round that takes in beautiful homes, trails through the Tualatin Hills Park system and it even has a natural waterfall! Our Wednesday walks are special because of all the walkers that come from many different AVA clubs. We visit, talk about upcoming events and plan our next walking adventures. Dick Baker lead the 10K group and Joe Titone lead the 5K group. A special, Thank You, to these two individuals who make a walk so easy to do!
Join us for some great walks!
